Conservative MP Owen Paterson has said that the political establishment “will do anything they possibly can to frustrate” Brexit, adding that “the latest manifestation” was the “hysterical campaign” against leaving with no deal.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is refusing to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss possible options for leaving the European Union at the end of March.
The former Northern Ireland Secretary told talkRADIO’s Julia Hartley-Brewer: “The big conundrum still hasn’t gone away – which is terribly simple – the UK has had a referendum on a number of issues, every time people helpfully and maybe obediently went along with what the establishment wanted.
“This time we got a problem because to the complete horror of the establishment and they hate it and they will do anything they possibly can to frustrate it.
“The latest manifestation is this hysterical campaign against no deal. It is not optimal to go to World Trade terms but 98% of world trade is done under those rules.”
